Sandown Bay Academy is celebrating today after one of its students got the grades to take up a place at the University of Cambridge.
18-year-old Juliette Wrixon achieved an A* in Maths and As in Physics and Further Maths. She’ll now be heading to Trinity College, Cambridge to study Engineering.
Juliette said:
“I am so, so, so, so happy to be successful in gaining a place at Cambridge University. I only applied after attending the Women in Stem Trinity outreach programme and the support provided was instrumental to my successful application. Without this opportunity I would not have considered applying. I am also grateful for all the opportunities my school has offered me over the years.”
Juliette’s triumph came in another successful year for Sandown Bay Academy with the majority of students there achieving their first choice university place.
Head of Sixth Form, Steve Apsey, said:
“As a school we are delighted that Juliette has achieved her dream of a place at Cambridge. Juliette has always been a high flyer and achieved success in many areas. A talented rower, actress, singer and academic, Juliette has a fierce determination to succeed. Juliette’s work ethic is second to none and we are delighted to see the culmination of her hard work.
“I have known Juliette since she was 9 and it has been a privilege to see her grow up into a successful young woman and I wish her every success for what will be a bright future.”
