From cricket chaos to Sherlock sleuthing and revolutionary drama – 4 Isle of Wight productions promise laughs, thrills and spectacle this May.
Bembridge Little Theatre Club are batting off with Outside Edge, coming to Bembridge Village Hall from 14th – 17th May. A light-hearted play about a village cricket team trying to win a game while sorting out their various marital problems. It is set inside the cricket pavilion and just outside.
Roger, the captain is having enough trouble getting a team together for the afternoon fixture against the British Railways Maintenance Division Yeading East, but these complications are the least of his worries before those occurring among the wives and girlfriends. Baskerville is the next play staged by the Pepperpot Players, from 15th – 17th May at Niton Village Hall, as they bring Ken Ludwig’s hilarious Sherlock Holmes mystery to Niton. Be prepared for a fast-moving feast of entertainment that retains the essence of one of the most famous Sherlock stories of all time, and delivers something extra (laughter!). The scene changes are as quick as the character switches, but don’t worry, Holmes and Watson are on the case.

Go along to the Apollo Theatre on 22nd – 30th May to see the Apollo Players’ next show, Quiz. James Graham’s kinetic, thrilling play combines the tension of a courtroom with the energy of a game show as a winning contestant on Britain’s ‘Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?’ stands trial for cheating.
