The Isle of Wight Randonnee is returning on 30th April with just 48 places remaining from the original allocation of 3,000.
As previously reported by Island Echo, the event, which was founded by Wayfaring Cycletouring Club in 1985, will take place on Sunday 30th April with participants able to rest their weary limbs on the following day’s Early May Day Bank Holiday.
Riders will have the choice between a 100km route including gravel tracks, a 100km route avoiding gravel tracks and a shorter 55km route. The Randonnee follows the Round The Island cycle route in a clockwise direction.
The event is free to enter but with just 48 places available at the time of writing, anyone interested should move quickly to secure their spot.
The Randonnee comes the day after CycleWight’s 30th anniversary celebrations in what will be a bumper weekend of cycling on the Island.

Oh the joys!! Fully grown adults on children’s toys clogging up the roads!!
Surely bikes were on roads before cars? And are now more environmentally friendly, better for health and much more!
I can never see why they are more environmentally friendly when they cause other road users to queue up behind them as they slowly pedal and don’t contribute anything to be on the road, no tax, no insurance, and no test to prove they are fit to be using a cycle.
Except for two little points.
Almost all adult cyclists will also be car owners and will be paying the tax on their cars even when riding their bikes.
The vast majority of Randonee cyclists will have 3rd party insurance via their British Cycling membership.
Except for one little point, I have a car and a van for work, I can only drive one at a time, when one is being used the other is at home taxed and Insured and not causing a nuisance to anyone else. Cyclists have become control freaks, they just enjoy making a bloody nuisance of them selves and consider themselves above the law!
“Cyclists have become control freaks“?
Just like all dogs are dangerous.
Just like all men are potential rapists.
Just like all Islanders are inbred.
Generalisations. As stupid as the people who make them.
Goodnes me what an absolute load of drivel you spout!
Horse and carriages were on the road as well once apon a time, but thankfully we moved on from those days, roads should just be for cars, not sad people peddling around holding up traffic, and no there not very environmentally friendly when holding up 15 cars over the downs.
Environmentally more friendly mmm with 20 cars ,lorries ,buses pumping out emissions stuck behind them as they don’t seem to like some of the cycle paths provided,
are you sure this is the correct way to help the environment
Just asking
how are they environmentally friendly with all that plastic on their bikes then they come over on the ferry in there cars then cycle here holding everyone up then back in there cars to drive home they dont spend any money here thay are just a pain in the neck
Bet most of them paid attention in English lessons, though.
Yes they are a PITA, but it’s one day out of 365. Maybe it’s you that should try being an adult?
Yes your so wright, much better to clog up the road with over sized pointless 4×4 and people carriers especially when you are to dam lazy to walk more than 2 steps from your house to the car
I can’t say I’m looking forward to being help up by them in my Bentley. Do they have any idea how much petrol it uses?
They should have one for mobility scooters!
They could start and finish at the Crispin. In fact it would be completely green if they just went inside, had a few drinks and kept off of the road altogether!
As long as I can still get to the bar, & I don’t want them drinking all the Special Brew either!
Hope it rains and blows a bloody gale .
A one day event that raises thousands of pounds for the Air Ambulance, and island based charities. What’s not to like?
Cyclists ………….
