The Isle of Wight’s very own Keegan Brown has defeated the world’s number one darts player Michael van Gerwen in the 2nd round of the Czech Darts Open.
The European Tour match didn’t get off to the a good start for Brown, who found himself 2-0 down and then 4-2 down.
Keegan, who works for the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, managed to hit back and levelled things up, 4-4. ‘The Needle’ took the lead for a short time but Van Gerwen soon made it 5-5.
The decider saw Keegan finish on a double 6 to secure the match 6-5, putting in an impressive 97.53 average in Prague.
It’s the second time that Brown has defeated Michael van Gerwen this season on the European Tour and takes him one step closer to confirming a place at the World Matchplay.
Brown will now face Danny Noppert in the third round later on today (Sunday) with hopes of progressing to the quarter finals tonight.
