The Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) have applied to the Isle of Wight Council to transform an existing office block in Newport into a new driving test centre.
For a large number of drivers on the Isle of Wight the dreaded driving test has started and ended on Medina Avenue in Newport – but from March it seems learners will be heading to St Cross Business Park instead.
Should planning permission be granted by the Council to change the use of the building, the DVSA will take up residency at the Innovation Centre on St Cross Business Park. The estate is situated not far from St Mary’s Hospital and is accessed from Dodnor Lane.
Tests will be carried out by 3 examiners between the hours of 09:00 and 16:30.
The existing site looks set to be transformed into housing, as reported by Island Echo last year.
