Over 750 Island women today ran, jogged and walked to show cancer who’s boss by raising money to fund groundbreaking research into new drugs and treatments by taking part in the annual Race for Life event held at Medina Theatre, Newport.
As the klaxon sounded at 11:00, females of all ages started their 5km challenge on a set course around the fields of Medina Theatre and the arboretum in front of scores of spectators cheering on friends and family.
The rain held off for the majority of those taking part, with the first runner 31-year-old Louisa Cole, crossing the finish line in just 19 minutes, 46 seconds.
