An inquiry into Red Funnel’s planning application appeal is to be held over 4 days from Tuesday 18th July, it has been announced.
Planning Inspector Ms L Gibbons, appointed by the First Secretary of State, will decide whether or not Red Funnel’s planning application for the redevelopment of its terminal in East Cowes will be granted permission or not.
Southampton IoW South of England Royal Mail Steam Packet Co. have lodged an appeal against the Isle of Wight Council’s decision to refuse planning permission for the demolition, site clearance and provision of expanded vehicle marshalling facilities and associated works at Trinity Wharf in East Cowes.
The application was recommended for approval by officers and was included on the agenda for the Isle of Wight Planning Committee on 12th April 2016. At this committee meeting Councillors refused to grant planning permission against the officers’ recommendation due to the ‘loss of existing employment facilities’.
The inquiry will take place in the Council Chamber at County Hall, Newport from 10:00 on 18th July and will continue until the end of the day on Friday 21st July. It could be up to 10 weeks after the end of the inquiry before a final decision is made.
Members of the public are, at the Inspector’s discretion, able to express views at the inquiry but anyone wishing to speak you will need to be at the inquiry when it is opened by the Inspector.
