Ofsted has deemed HTP Apprenticeship College to be ‘Good’ in all areas of their provision, including the quality of education, leadership and management.
A team of 8 inspectors recently paid a visit to the Newport-based college, over a period of 4 days, to delve into the quality of the education and training being offered. Inspectors spoke to learners, apprentices and employers and conducted ‘deep dives’ into specific areas of HTP’s provision.
Rachael Randall Principal and Chief Executive says:
“In the first term of inspections under the new more rigorous Ofsted Education Inspection Framework, we are thrilled that we have achieved good in all area of our provision; especially as Ofsted hasn’t been to see us for 11 years! The report speaks for itself, however we are very pleased with the key findings of the report in particular that ‘learners and apprentices enjoy their time at HTP. They feel safe, behave well and are motivated to achieve’ and ‘learners on education programmes for young people and apprentices are highly motivated to succeed. They benefit from high levels of support which help them achieve their learning goals. They achieve well and value highly the new knowledge and skills that they gain and the behaviours they develop’.”
The report, also praises the quality of an ambitious range of programmes based on local and national priorities. Learners who have additional learning needs, are disadvantaged or who have barriers to learning, receive inclusive and very effective support that enables them to perform as well as their peers.
Rachael Randall adds:
“The inspection is a testament to the hard work and passion of our team, the focus and determination of our learners and, of course, the support of the employers we work with. As we look ahead to our 20th anniversary next year, our focus remains on providing high-quality training to help people across our region succeed in their future career”.
