While most of us are completing those last-minute preparations for Christmas, staff at Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes on the Isle of Wight are gearing up for their busiest time of the year.
The 5-star housebuilders have revealed that the fortnight after Christmas is their most action-packed time of the year – with eager househunters using the downtime and reflection of the festive season to hit their computers and search for a new home for the New Year.
A huge spike in website visits was seen after Boxing Day in 2018, which has become an annual trend. It was followed by another surge in the first week of January, when enquiries doubled compared to early December.
Tammy Bishop, sales director for Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, said:
“Christmas and New Year is fast becoming our busiest period for enquiries, so we prepare to meet this demand by making sure we’re very much open for business. As well as online enquiries we also see an increase in visits to our sites so potential buyers are free to visit us once they’ve had a browse online.
“We inevitably spend more time at home at Christmas than any other time of year, and the New Year is always a time for people to assess where they are now and consider what changes they want to make in the year ahead. It seems that this period leads a great many people to make the decision to move, and to start the new year with a new home.”
Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes are bringing new homes to the Isle of Wight through their new developments across the county including Barratt Homes’ Hawthorn Meadows (East Cowes) and the dual-branded site St George’s Gate (Newport). The show homes and sales centres will be open from 27th December until 31st December and then again from 2nd January.
