HOODED YOUTHS TARGET SANDOWN RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES IN CRIME SPREE

A group of hooded youths have been blamed for a series of acts of criminal damage against residents and businesses in Sandown this week.

The first incident occurred on Saturday night into Sunday morning when persons forced entry to an ice cream kiosk next to The Bandstand on Culver Parade.

On Tuesday night, the same kiosk was broken into again alongside the Sandham Gardens golf kiosk just a stone’s throw away.

It’s not just businesses that have been hit though… overnight into Wednesday morning a number of visiting coaches parked in nearby Fort Street were vandalised with windows smashed and bodywork damaged. Local residents have also reported having their cars broken into along Crescent Road.

A lot of the criminal damage has been captured on CCTV, however, the group of 4-6 youths have attempted to disguise themselves by putting up their hoods and looking to the ground.

Although not a lot has been lost in terms of cash or goods, the associated cost of repairing damaged windows and doors has left the Sandown community out of pocket.

Anyone who witnessed the break-ins, or has information relating to the series of incidents, can call Police on 101 quoting 44180358053.
