Ventnor Fringe celebrates it’s 10th Anniversary this summer, between 23rd-28th July 2019, with a giant programme of new artists from around the world.
East London hip-hop act Barney Artist, who fuses 90s era boom bap hip-hop with jazz, will play a special show on Ventnor Harbour. Hailed by Loyle Carner as his ‘One To Watch’ following collaborations with likes of Tom Misch, Jordan Rakei and George The Poet, it’s the first of a series of special Harbour shows to be announced.
During the Fringe spaces throughout the town are transformed and in Ventnor Park a striking new tent ‘The Magpie’ will provide a new focal centre in a beautiful boutique big top. It will also be joined by a dedicated Comedy & Cabaret Tent featuring rising stars from across the UK.
Among the first shows to be announced for The Magpie is ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’. Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic mystery is brought to life on stage in an acclaimed new production featuring Sherlock Holmes and his incomparable sidekick, Dr. Jane Watson. It is a hilarious comedy mystery featuring 2 fearless actors playing every role in this fast paced farce. It transfers to Ventnor Fringe following hit runs in Manchester and London.
This year the Ventnor Fringe which has moved to new pre-Edinburgh Fringe dates from 23rd-28th July 2019. The result has been a huge increase in performers looking to take part and preview new work.
All in all 10 shows go on sale this week, but with many more to come.
Co-Director Jack Whitewood said:
“Artist entries are already up by 50% on last year’s record, and our new pre-Edinburgh dates are attracting talent from all over the UK and beyond, keen to preview new material, it looks set to be an incredible 10th birthday!”
