VIDEO: Staff at the Isle of Wight Zoo have successfully carried out what is believed to be the first heart scan on a fully conscious tiger.
18-year-old Aysha underwent the examination on Saturday morning to take a look at the left hand side of her heart due to recent difficulties in breathing. The scan allowed experts to take measurements and assess how well Aysha’s heart is beating.
The results have been deemed positive with everything looking healthy for the female tiger, especially one of older age.
The Sandown-based zoo are hoping to welcome another tiger in the coming months and have launched a fundraising appeal to help make that happen.
