The results of a survey completed by Isle of Wight residents has helped to shape the workplan for Healthwatch Isle of Wight for the coming year.
Each year the health watchdog undertakes a survey that asks members of the public to choose their top 5 priorities. There are 20 service areas for people to choose from and these are selected based upon the amount of feedback received relating to those service areas in the previous 12 months.
This approach was adopted to ensure that everything that Healthwatch Isle of Wight does brings the voice and influence of local people to the development and improvement of local services.
This year the survey received a fantastic 18% increase in responses when compared to 2016.
As a result of the survey the Healthwatch Isle of Wight 2017/18 workplan will focus on:
• Mental health services (Adults)
• 111 and out of hours GP services
• Accident & Emergency / Ambulance
• Social work services (Adults)
• Dementia care
Anyone who wishes to share their experiences (good or bad) of local health and/or care services can do so by ringing 01983 608608 or by emailing [email protected].
Healthwatch Isle of Wight was recently awarded 2 national awards for their ‘Home from Home’ residential and nursing care work. The work was awarded the ‘engagement in service improvement’ award and also the ‘NICE Better Care Award’ sponsored by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. This special award celebrated the most outstanding example of where a local Healthwatch has been able to help improve local health or care services by using NICE advice or guidance.
