Gritters will be out treating the Island’s road network tonight (Tuesday) as the mercury drops across the South of England.
Island Roads have confirmed that the fleet of gritters will be following the usual routes.
As previously reported by Island Echo, there is a risk of hail, sleet and snow across the Island today. Forecasters IW Met Service says that as we move towards the evening a band of heavy and somewhat more persistent rain will move through and as it does the temperature will drop significantly, leading to the risk of sleet and a little snow mixed in.
Before you get too excited, it seems unlikely there will be any snow on the ground at sea level. The highest risk of snow will be over the hills, with The Downs potentially seeing a dusting.
