The Isle of Wight Green Party will officially launch their campaign for a Green MP for the Isle of Wight in Cowes this Saturday lunchtime.
Parliamentary candidate Vix Lowthion will be joined by deputy leader of the Green Party Amelia Womack, who is visiting the Island to take part in the canvassing and support their campaign to get a second Green MP.
This comes only days after Caroline Lucas MP told Andrew Marr on BBC 1 that the Isle of Wight has one of the best chances to return a Green MP in the entire country. She said:
“Two million people voted Green in the European elections… and so what we want to do now is to try and turn those votes into real seats. In places like the Isle of Wight, Bristol West, Stroud, Bury St Edmunds and others we now have a real chance of winning.”
The Isle of Wight is 1 of only 10 places in the country where a Unite to Remain alliance has seen the Green Party placed as the agreed Remain-supporting candidate to be MP.
Vix Lowthion said:
“After Boris and Nigel have teamed up to impose a Hard Brexit Leave Alliance on the UK, it is more critical than ever that voters who oppose them unite together in this election. Dozens of voters from all parties have been in touch with me to pledge their votes for the Green Party on the Island next month: the two big parties have failed us too many times. They want an MP who can vote independent of any party leader.”
Vix and Amelia will launch the campaign from 13:00 on Saturday 16th November at/nearby Cowes Methodist Church.

For the UK’s defence, the Green’s wish to ban Trident and, instead plant a prickly Gorse ten foot tall hedge all around the UK. Not only will it stop invaders getting in, but will be good for nesting bearded tits too they feel.

Green Party…….Perhaps she and her partner can start an open cast mining program on the IOW that’s green and doesn’t damage the earth eh!
