Baroness Jenny Jones of Moulsecoomb will visit to Isle of Wight on Wednesday (31st May).
Baroness Jones of Moulsecoomb joined the House of Lords in 2013, having been chosen for this appointment in a ballot of all Green Party members. She was a Green Party member of the London Assembly from its creation in 2000 until 2016 and in 2003/04 she was appointed Deputy Mayor for London by Ken Livingstone and worked closely with him during his second term as Mayor.
During her visit to the Island, Baroness Jones will attend the Green Party’s shop and HQ in Newport where she will launch a Green statement for older citizens. Later in the morning she will visit the local Women’s Centre before leafleting in St James’ Square.
A talk at Quay Arts entitled ‘The Blamed Generation’ will be hosted by Baroness Jones in the afternoon. The talk will focus on older citizens with reference to policy statement including her experience of being an older person in power.
Green Parliamentary Candidate for the Isle of Wight, Vix Lowthion, will accompany Baroness Jones during her visit.
