The Isle of Wight Green Party have launched an Island-based manifesto of pledges that will be put into action should Vix Lowthion be elected as MP for the Isle of Wight in next month’s general election.
Following the national party’s manifesto announcement this morning (Monday), a shortened Isle of Wight version has been unveiled in Newport this lunchtime.
Areas tackled in the local manifesto – entitled the Isle of Wight Green Guarantee – include beacon status for the Island as a centre of renewable technology engineering; fighting against all fracking and oil drilling on the Isle of Wight and elsewhere; a Renters’ Union to protect the growing number of islanders who rent privately; voting to retain the Fox Hunting Ban and putting islanders first when it comes to solutions for tackling transport, health and education.
Vix Lowthion, MP candidate for the IW Green Party has said:
“It’s time for a fresh start! A Green MP would provide the fiercely independent voice for islanders at Westminster which we most desperately need.
“These are incredibly challenging times and I have adapted the national manifesto to focus on the Island so you can really get a flavour as to what values I stand for.
“I ask you to please trust me to stand up for what matters, and really put the Isle of Wight on the map in June!”
