The Wight AID Foundation has granted a further £7,685 to local charities in their latest round of grant applications.
Wight AID raises funds from Island companies, investors and individuals looking for an effective way to support the Island’s unique community and distributes to a range of charities and good causes on the Isle of Wight.
Thanks to donations to Wight AID from IFPL, Westridge Limited, Rouse Limited, Glanvilles and public donations, Wight AID has announced the 3 local charities who have received funding.
IOW Stroke Club has been granted £1,200 towards a day out to London including going on the London Eye and a River Thames Cruise. The IOW Stroke Club is run by Stroke Survivors to provide relief for persons who have suffered a Stroke, and their Carers, by providing facilities for recreational and leisure activities, equipment and support when required, in order to improve their conditions of life.
Meanwhile Medina Marching Band has been granted £2,485.50 towards the purchase of musical instruments. The MMB offers both youngsters and their families, who have learning difficulties, low income the opportunity to become involved.
The Blue Lamp Trust has been granted £4,000 towards the purchase of a Transit Connect Van for the safe and secure home visits for the vulnerable. The Blue Lamp Trust was established to provide practical help and support to the elderly and vulnerable living in our community. They work with referrals from the Police, Fire Service, local authorities, other charities to carry out a full home safety and security survey.
The trustees expect to make the next distribution of funds in July 2017, with a deadline for applications by the 30th June 2017. More information about how to support Wight AID, and how to apply for a grant can be found on their website www.wightaid.org.
