Locals and tourists alike looked on as a giant tower crane was installed on the site of Sandown’s brand new Premier Inn hotel yesterday (Monday).
As previously reported by Island Echo, contractors Carter Lauren are making good progress with the new 100-bed hotel and restaurant on the site of the former Carlton Hotel.
The next stage of the build is to lower into position the steel frame sections that make up the skeleton of the building. This will be done using a tower crane.
The Esplanade was closed to all traffic yesterday as an Island Cranes mobile crane helped assemble the static crane, piece by piece.
Premier Inn Sandown is expected to be completed by Spring 2020. The project has been valued at over £10million.
