31 people braved taking a dip in the Solent this morning (New Year’s Day) in aid of Ryde Inshore Rescue.
The inaugural event, which took place at Appley, certainly went according to plan and really helped kick start the life-saving charity’s fundraising efforts for 2018.
A good crowd gathered to cheer on those running into the sea despite the rather poor weather conditions.
Cllr Wayne Whittle got the event underway at 10:30 following a man overboard demonstration by the Ryde Rescue 1 and 2 lifeboats.
There is already talk of holding the event on an annual basis – but hopefully the sun will shine in 2019!
