Andy Ward and James Pett of the Wightlink Wight Mountain Cycle Race Team traveled to Portsmouth Mountbatten Centre to take part in the Omega Circuit event yesterday (Sunday).
The race started at a steady pace while the riders adjusted to the track, but soon a few attacks formed with riders trying to breakaway. Good team work brought them back together.
The pace picked up towards the end with Andy and James working together to ensure good positioning for the final sprint. James sprinted clear, winning with ease and collecting the full 10 points. Andy crossed the line in a respectable 3rd with 7 points- enough to secure his 3rd Cat license.
James only needs 2 points now to progress to 3rd Cat, which will help bolster the team’s 3rd Cat squad.
The team would like to thank Wightlink and Wight Mountain for their continued support.
