A joint investigation between Hampshire Constabulary and the Isle of Wight Council has led to a number of builders receiving formal written warnings for fly tipping.
Last month a report was received by the Yarmouth-based Country Watch Team of unsightly fly tipping in the Carisbrooke area.
After inspecting the rubbish, wrapping with several names on it was identified by a member of the public. Further enquiries were made with a builders merchants in Newport before the information was then passed on to Isle of Wight Council’s Environmental Health department.
The builders responsible for the fly tipping were interviewed under caution and admitted the offence.
The waste has since been removed by the offenders and formal written warnings given to them as this was a first offence.
