The Isle of Wight’s very own Emily Wild, otherwise known as Emellia, has launched her debut music video today (Friday).
Emellia has been featured on Island Echo several times before as her journey has progressed, from the release of her debut single ‘Authority’ back in March to today’s release of the corresponding music video.
Throughout 2019, the 21-year-old from Binstead has played over 60 live gigs across the Isle of Wight and further afield in international locations such as Florida and Amsterdam. She has collaborated with other artists such as Roni, Dayita and Joey Hext, as well as launching both Authority and a second single, ‘Run’.
Emellia has told Island Echo:
“I am absolutely loving being a solo artist – the creative side, the way I can relate to people’s everyday lives and the way people are listening to my very own songs.
“It is an incredible feeling since I didn’t believe I could or would come this far. I dreamt of becoming a solo artist as a little girl and now that I am one, it is a crazy feeling!
“Now that my debut music video is coming out, I feel like all the pieces are fitting into place and content is going to be released at a much more frequent pace – which I am so excited about”.

Areas of outstanding natural beauty and other backdrops across the Island feature exclusively in the Authority video, as Emellia explains:
“I only wanted locations from home to enhance a ‘close to home’ style for my first ever music video.
“The destinations are spread across Compton, Arreton, Newport and East Cowes and every place was slightly different to represent the ever-changing feelings when you are in love. One minute you can feel on top of the world in a red dress floating around an open field, and others you’re in a black dress drowning with no way of escaping. It’s a way of telling a story using scenery around you and, for my first single, I couldn’t have asked for better visuals”.
The singer has plans to release brand new music next year, as well as collaborating with more artists in the coming months.
Alongside today’s launch of the music video, an acoustic version of Authority has been released on all streaming platforms this morning including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Deezer and more.
