41-year-old Phillip Brookes has been charged with 2 grooming offences after being caught through an online sting operation.
Members of a group called ‘Northwest Hebephile Hunters’ travelled to the Isle of Wight yesterday (Friday) to confront Brookes, of Clarence Road in East Cowes, on behalf of ‘Confronted and Caught’. They met with him outside a local supermarket in his home town.
During the meet, which was broadcast live to Facebook, it was alleged Phillip had been involved in grooming who he believed to be underage children. Police were called to the scene and arrested Brookes on the spot.
Now, Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that Phillip James Brookes has been charged with 2 grooming offences. He appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court this morning (Saturday) and has been remanded in custody to appear before the court again at a later date.
The video showing Brookes’ arrest has been viewed over 200,000 times in the past 24 hours.

Honestly this is disgusting these situations need more publicity as people need to be aware to protect themselves and their children.
Dressed like a youth yob geez didn’t think he was actually gunns be that old the dirty git. Glad he been caught
How come he is refered to as “Phillip” and yet when reporting on other stories a descent citizen is refered to by their Surname ??
So…..he was caught using an online sting operation, which means the Police have obviously got their man, but you still can’t show his face? As members of the public we deserve the right to see these people, so as to protect our children. These are disgusting individuals who do not deserve anonymity…..let alone oxygen.
His face is all over social media, so easy to find. I think reporters are not allowed to show his face until he is charged officially
He has a history of this sort of behaviour and worse – he has been in the news, after being in court at least twice since 2013 for offences like this. This idiot has already been given a prison sentence for sex offences.
he has no rights and deserves to be hounded until he exists no more.
So sad and upsetting this sort of thing is still happening. Tougher sentences needed so these people never get out to harm children again.
So glad that justice has been done n he is off our streets hopefully for a long time ..massive respect
She sentenced him to 12 months in custody, suspended for two years.
He was given a community order to include 15 rehabilitation days and 140 hours of unpaid work, plus a £250 fine and £149 surcharge.
