The Isle of Wight’s very own Earl’s RDA has won ‘Best Stout in the United Kingdom’ at the World Beer Awards.
Earl’s RDA is a rich, dark ale made with crystal and chocolate malts along with roasted barley.
Claire Bennett of Island Brewery said:
“We are so proud of this brew, not only because it is our firm favourite but because it is a generous beer. Every pint sold we donate 10p to the Earl Mountbatten Hospice so everyone is a winner.
“The competition was a tough one and this is the highest level that we could ever have imagined it achieving.
“We want to thank our hard working team at the Brewery, Chris Coleman, Ashley Coleman and Tom Leman for their dedication and efforts in maintaining the high quality of beers we love to put our name to”.
Earls is Chris Coleman’s invention and a beer he is particularly protective of, so to receive this accolade is extremely moving for him.
