An unlicensed and uninsured driver has been caught on the Island’s roads for the second time in just 4 weeks – this time in a Nissan Micra.
As previously reported by Island Echo, a Kia Sportage was stopped by officers on Briddlesford Road near Wootton on 20th September. The driver was found to be on the road without a licence, insurance or valid MOT for the vehicle.
Now, less than 4 weeks later, the same officers have seized a Nissan Micra being driven by the same person in Brading.
Police pulled the vehicle over in the High Street shortly before 15:00 and once again conducted a number of checks. It was no surprise when the database returned that the driver still did not hold a licence or insurance.
Furthermore, it was discovered that the male is wanted in connection with a recent theft. As an added bonus, Police discovered property in the car that had just been stolen. The male has been summoned to appear in court.
It’s safe the say that the Nissan was seized on the spot…

Name and shame
Naming the criminals is one thing but to putting a mans name to driving a Nissan Micra is just a step too far.
Leave him some dignity…….
At least it wasnt a Yaris
The car should be crushed, with the illegal drive strapped in the drivers seat. For IF as is likely, he were to smash into another car, the innocent occupants would suffer that fate, with NO insurance to pay for any medical fees etc.
No great loss to mankind, or the Island one would guess.
Why crush the car? Its not the cars fault its driver it a d**k. Why not auction it for charity???
Does not say that he’s been locked up. If not I bet he’ll have another car very soon.
No money to protect the public but want the public to pay 39 Billion pounds to the EU.
Should be a prison sentence for driving with no insurance or valid driving license as the fine is so much less than the cost of car insurance. Nothing has stopped them so far so will just do it again and again
2nd time prison term needed what a prat!
Report states he has been summoned to appear in court? No doubt he will be stealing more items to sell to cover his fine that he will probably be given, previous sentence for entwhistle 22 weeks for no insurance,no licence life changing injuries for a innocent young mother etc shows how pathetic the system is
Now time our magistrates and Judges issued more appropriate sentences.Every week they are proved inadequate.
Banning someone from driving, who doesn’t hold a licence is nonsense.
You’re hitting the wrong target. Our Magistrates and Judges for something called the Sentencing Guidelines, which our politicians set when it suites them.
