A young man that was airlifted to the mainland following a road traffic collision on Military Road earlier this month has thanked the emergency services for their efforts.
17-year-old Michael was travelling alongside 2 other people when their vehicle left the road at Compton and ended up 15m down an embankment. The incident sparked a large emergency response to the scene, including firefighters from Freshwater.
Michael sustained a serious facial injury which led to him being flown to the mainland for surgery which, in his own words, has left him with a scar for life.
Now, just over 2 weeks later, Michael is back home with his family in time for Christmas and recovering, as are his 2 friends.
Michael and his Nan visited Freshwater Fire Station yesterday (Thursday) and thanked the crew for the efforts. They have also asked for their sincere and heartfelt thanks to be passed on to all emergency crews that worked together on that night.
