10 schools from across Hampshire, West Sussex, Hertfordshire and the Isle of Wight competed in the 2017 Rock Challenge Southern Open Final A in Portsmouth last night, with the Island’s Christ the King College walking away with 4th place.
Students from the Carisbrooke-based school performed ‘A casualty of love’ – a folk story about a peasant girl named Giselle, who dies of a broken heart after discovering her lover is betrothed to another.
Awards of Excellence were also presented to Christ the King for Performance Skill, Costuming Character, Visual Enhancement, Entertainment, Stage Crew and Video Performance. Students also grasped the Award for Achievement in Drug Awareness and the Be Your Best Award for Student Leadership.
Tonight (Friday 28th April) Medina College will take to the stage at the Portsmouth Guildhall, followed by Sandown Bay Academy and Ryde Academy on Saturday.
