The carnival spirit returned to Sandown last night (Wednesday) as the annual illuminated carnival procession swept through the town.
Thousands of spectators lined the procession route to enjoy the vibrance and variety of the evening event with the weather staying mild, albeit a little nippy.
Setting off from the Parade at 21:00, the procession was led by firefighters from the town’s fire station and town crier John Davies, followed by Medina Marching Band.
Queens from across the Island joined in the procession, alongside Vectis Corps of Drums and Mas Fusion.
The final carnival of the season takes place on Saturday evening as Ryde’s famous illuminated carnival sets off from the Esplanade at 20:30.
