Ventnor’s Main Carnival, which had been due to take place tonight, has been cancelled due to the unseasonable weather conditions alongside the cancellation of The Spyglass Inn’s fireworks display.
For many years, The Spyglass Inn has organised and funded an impressive fireworks display to coincide with the Ventnor Main Carnival. Unfortunately, due to the weather, the display has been postponed until Saturday evening (12th August).
Meg Mortimer from The Spyglass has said:
“Our fireworks display has become something of a tradition and this is the first year that we have had to postpone them.
“It’s a real disappointment, but our fireworks supplier has been brilliant and has agreed to reschedule them at very short notice.”
The Spyglass Inn fireworks display will now be going ahead immediately after Saturday’s Ventnor Illuminated Carnival. The carnival is due to finish at the top of Bath Hill (right above the pub at 22:00 and the fireworks display will follow just afterwards at approximately 22:15.
