Wightlink-Wight Mountain Cycle Race Team 2nd Cat rider, Oliver Nolan, has had a busy schedule of racing over the past few weeks, competing in 3 races over a 7-day period last week.
Oli – who put in good performances at the National B rounds of the Omega Portsmouth Circuits Series – just missed out on breaks finishing with the main bunch on both of those occasions.
However, Oli improved with every race and in Round 6 of the PNECC’s Dick Evans Memorial Series was active in both chasing down moves and putting in attacks to try to break away over the 45-minute, fast-paced race.
Unusually for Mountbatten, no break materialised which led to a bunch sprint with Oli just finishing outside the points.
Oli’s best result came in Round 7 of the Series when he secured 4th place and a crucial 6 points towards retaining his 2nd Cat licence.
Oli said:
“I’ve tried to be active in every race and felt the best I have for while when sprinting in the last round. I’m really looking forward to competing in both of the Series throughout August and hoping to improve on my recent performances”
Clogging up the roads again no doubt!
Someone please clarify the law regarding ‘racing on the public highway’
Look at the picture, they aren’t on the road! Its a circuit race, they are at the Mountbatten Sports Centre in Portsmouth!
