The 15th Anniversary of the Annual Isle of Wight Walking Festival got underway this weekend with over 250 walks taking place this month alongside a further 70 more walks in October.
Brian Blessed, star of iconic films such as Flash Gordon and Henry V, as well as famous TV series Z Cars and Black Adder, entertained a packed Medina Theatre yesterday evening (Sunday) talking not only about his acting career, but his experiences as an adventurer including climbing Mont Blanc at the age of seventeen.
In 1993, Brian held the record for being the oldest person to claim higher than any other man when he climbed Mount Everest at the age of 56, a record only beaten by Sir Ranulph Fiennes in 2009.
The May Walking Festival is from 4th to 19th May 2013 with the Autumn Walking Weekend takes place in October from 25th to 28th October 2013.
