Bob Seely, the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for the Isle of Wight, launched his re-election campaign in Shanklin yesterday (Sunday), describing the upcoming election as the most important in a generation.
Unveiling his campaign with a Social Media video, Bob said that there was a clear choice on the Island between Conservatives and Labour, who came first and second in this constituency at the last election.
Speaking at the launch at Shanklin Conservative Club, Bob said:
“The reaction I have had on the doorsteps over recent months is clear – we need to get Brexit done and then deliver on the public’s priorities: health, education, the environment and the police”.
Bob, a former soldier who has served in the UK’s past four military campaigns, said that the Island needed to continue having a strong, local voice in Parliament. He told supporters:
“It’s been a huge privilege to represent you all in Parliament.
“This is one of the most significant elections in our lifetime. A vote for me, Bob Seely, is a vote to get Brexit done and to deliver for our Island.
“Another hung Parliament or Jeremy Corbyn as PM means more Brexit uncertainty – in fact it may mean no Brexit, and maybe no Britain. This election is a two-horse race between Conservatives under Boris Johnson and Labour under Jeremy Corbyn. It’s a choice between getting Brexit done and delivering for both Britain and the Island – or a Labour Party led by a man who is not fit to lead the country”.

Mr Seely said that for the next 5 years, as the Island’s MP, he would focus on:
- Working with the Council to improve the Island Plan, prioritise housing for Islanders and protect green fields from development.
- Putting the Island at the forefront of environmental protection.
- Delivering a better deal for public services on the Island.
- Ensuring that the capital investment in Island Line (including Ryde Railway Pier) and St Mary’s Hospital is delivered in a timely manner.
- Working with the Council and the NHS to deliver better healthcare by securing Government support for an integrated approach to health and social care.
- Improving higher education and work prospects for Islanders.

So, all the exact things the Conservatives have absolutely gutted of funding and destroyed, then?
Perhaps the Conservatives will fulfil their (getting so damned annoying as it’s been repeated like a stuck record) claim they’ll “Get Brexit Done”, once Boris has fulfilled his claim that he’d rather be dead in a ditch than the UK not leave the EU on October the 31st.
Boris & his cronies are nothing but a pathological liars & the rest of them, inc Seely, aren’t much better.
With their track record so far, I reckon they’ll probably manage to “Get Brexit Done”, when hell freezes over!
The elections are a bit like Alan Sugars The Apprentice.
The winner is never ‘the best’ – just the default ‘least rubbish’ of the rubbish remaining.
Rubbish being the acceptable printable term.

More important than how every single public service will be funded and run in the country? Wow, you must live an important life.
It was once said “if voting changed anything it would be banned” so vote for who or what you like little people, the status quo will prevail ie SSDD same sh-t different day.

But he voted against giving nurses & firefighters a pay rise, & he ignores his constituents when they write to him about the need for a fixed link. He’s only interested in a foreign affairs job & is not even from the iow, so knows nothing about it. He only rents a little property here so he had an address to go for MP. Bob the Knob!
He backed T.May at one time…..run with the fox ….chase with the hounds eh! I won’t vote for the Green Party as that rep. Has more skeletons in the cupboard than the rest (shame really) so….go for the the loonies…bah!
Four years not enough? So far parliament has NOT obeyed the people. The only option we currently have is to march on parliament and burn it down.

Well why not get Brexit done…the rest of us have been well and truely done by the Conservatives…
Vote tactically, not just BREXIT. Poverty, NHS, Education, the real issues on the IOW!
Cheryl; as all of the parties are claiming that, if elected, they will sort out issues of NHS, Education, Poverty, environment as well as Brexit (one way or the other),.. which version of ‘Tactical Voting’ are you suggesting?
Is that the one where one party gets a majority & then does just whatever they want to, with little consideration of what they ‘promised’ in their manifesto, or the one where no party gets a majority & we get the same impass on everything until the next general election ?
Is it just me, or does that picture of Bob Seely a the top, look like a magician doing one of those conjuring tricks, where he takes a £20 note from you & makes it disappear,… never to be seen again?
We should be pushing for our own University on the Island-Give our young people in the schools something to look forward to..
