A number of bicycles were stolen from Wight Cycle Hire in Yarmouth during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday), prompting the hire shop to issue an appeal for information.
The premises at Station Road was broken into at around 02:30 with 2 men of interest caught on CCTV, which has now been released in a bid to identify the individuals thought to be involved.
At least 4 bikes were taken – including electric bicycles – and were last seen being cycled down the cycle track towards Freshwater’s Causeway.
Islanders are being urged to keep an eye out for any of the following bicycles:
– Forme Curbar 3 Bright Orange Mountain Bike
– Forme Sterndale 4 Bright Orange
– Sky Blue Emu Electric Bike (no keys and a yellow mark on the left side of the down tube)
– Saracen MTB Teal & Pink (with distinctive pink grips with a rear flat tyre)
The stolen bikes are labelled with Wight Cycle Hire stickers and whilst not impossible to remove, they are difficult to get off all together. There may be sticky residue left on the top tube

Invest in better doors, as no matter how good the video, the courts will do nothing to such trash now. We are on our own against criminals now.

Even putting small trackers on expensive bikes which costs hardly anything.

As it may have meant there was more chance of getting the bikes back?
The local scum have to fund their habit and it is easier to steal than to get a job
