A section of a popular footpath in Bembridge has been closed to allow construction work at a nearby site to continue safely.
Bembridge Parish Council announced the news today, with the footpath running between the car parking area at Forelands Field Road and the beach access steps closed with immediate effect.
The works to demolish and rebuild a beach hut had already started before the closure, with the developer estimating that the building will continue until the middle of November year.
Walkers will need to bypass the closed section by using nearby paths to circumnavigate the area.

Well it is Bembridge old chap, nothing but the best here.
This could only happen on the Island and i thought beach huts had to of a certain size.
Makes one wonder if they needed planning permission to knock it down and build a new one?
You can get whatever you want on the ‘Good to go!’ hollibobs Isle of mugs. As long as you have a few well stuffed brown envelopes. The path is most likely closed so that concerned, decent people of modest means don’t ask too many questions while another eyesore is thrown up! Once it’s built the fiasco of retrospective planning permission can go ahead, which could take years, and by which time the thing will have rotted (or the occupants are bored of it) and they will want another one anyway. Then it all begins again, but even bigger…
