Pub chain Wetherspoons has announced the reopening of its pubs in Newport and Ryde as indoor pub visits are set to be allowed once more from Monday.
The chain, which owns both Newport’s Man in the Moon and Ryde’s S. Fowler Co pubs will be reintroducing a full food menu and bringing back meal clubs, including curry and steak nights.
It comes as the Prime Minister announced that England can move in to phase 3 of the roadmap out of lockdown on 17th May as planned, with pubs and restaurants able to reopen for indoor service.
Drinkers have been able to get their pints at Man In The Moon, but due to restrictions, have had to sit outside in the beer gardens, whilst Fowlers has remained closed since the beginning of the most recent lockdown.
Wetherspoons is set to open its pubs from 08:00 to 00:00 from Sunday through to Thursday, and until 01:00 on Friday and Saturday.
Customers will still need to wear face coverings when not at a table and follow other coronavirus precautions.
Don’t get too excited, the Indian variant is spreading.

Oh well – back to the usual parade of alco’s at 7am sat in spoons, as well as the ciggie brigade outside the doors continually – creating the usual mount everest of butts around the pavement.
the only good thing we have seen about lockdowns, is the lack of drunks and deadbeats around the town – this will be one unwelcome return.
if spoons opened later and had no smoking outside the doors of the building, then perhaps it would be tolerable.
You obviously haven’t been in or around Ryde over the last year.. Same faces same places off their nuts being abusive and anti social .. Absolutely no change whatsoever!
i have been in ryde a lot – and they are usually hanging around the sea wall by the pier drinking cheap cider, arguing, with each other about their pointless existences and no doubt the latest crisis, that someone has nicked a can of cider off them or stolen their butt roll ups they had found in the gutter.

don’t expect any sympathy from me – i note the income tax deduction on my salary advice each month and it roughly equates to the amount that one of the deadbeats gets in benefit money each month. Which he wastes on booze, baccy and weed – i work all month, only to have money taken from my salary, against my will, in the form of taxation and then it is handed to that scumbag to waste away on his pitiful life.

And you sound extremely selfish, wanting to inflict unpleasantness on others who just want a more considerate society. Everything that poster says is true. I don’t know about wetherspoons early in morning, but go by in late afternoon on a normal day and it can feel quite intimidating. Why should other people have to suffer because of intolerable behaviour from selfish people?

It is only a problem if you make it a problem,have you ever stopped and talked to these individuals? The vast vast majority of them are very pleasant and polite and each one has there own story, if you guys are so offended by them don’t go around looking for them, simple! Leave them alone and they will leave you alone! Just stick to your own boring and mundane 9-5 lives!
Let’s keep the NHS clear by keeping Covid behind close doors. Now let’s open pubs and feel A&E with drunken, assaults, domestic violence, overdoses, attempted suicides..: The list goes on.
I won’t drink in any Wetherspoons again after the way the owner treated his staff on the first lockdown.
