Armed Forces Day 2019 will be celebrated on the Isle of Wight with an event at Newport Quay between 11:00-17:00 on Saturday 22nd June.
The day will get underway with a parade of service personnel, veterans, standard bearers and cadets being led by Her Majesty’s Royal Marine Band Collingwood, followed by local bands. The parade will set off from Drill Hall Road at 11:15 before marching along the High Street to Newport Quay, where the salute will be taken by Lord Lieutenant Mrs Susie Sheldon JP.
An all day programme is planned to include stalls, exhibitions, military vehicles and children’s entertainment.
Keith Bradford, one of the organisers of the event, has said:
“This is a day when the rest of us on the island can show our patriotic support for our service personnel, past and present throughout the country and our thanks for keeping us safe.
“One of the marks of any civilised nation is the way it supports and respects those who fight for our country, and their families.
Stall holders or business that would like a position at the venue should contact with David Dobson by emailing [email protected]. There will be no charge for a position although a donation would be greatly appreciated.
