The Isle of Wight Council, in partnership with Amey, is seeking views on recycling and waste services.
The residents’ recycling and waste online survey is now open and will run until Friday 14th February 2020. It is an opportunity for householders to put forward suggestions for future improvements or ideas on how the Island can recycle more and reduce our waste.

Natasha Dix, Waste and Environment Manager, says:
“I would urge to public to have their say in the survey as we are always open to hearing ideas on how we can all continue to recycle more and reduce our waste.
“We’re already exceeding our 2020 recycling target of 55 per cent and are in the top 25 per cent of areas in the UK. We’re continuing to tackle issues such as plastic pollution. Thanks to Island residents, recycling has now become part of our daily lives.”
The council is responsible for the collection, treatment and disposal of household recyclables and waste on the Island – which is delivered through a contract with Amey.
Once the closing date for the survey has passed, the information will be reviewed and used to identify possible improvements to the existing services. Unfortunately, no responses received after the closing date can be considered by the council.
Paper versions will be available from the County Hall reception area at Newport, libraries and council help centres in the early New Year. Completed hard copies should be returned by Friday 14th February 2020 to Waste Management, County Hall, High Street, Newport, Isle of Wight PO30 1UD.
Lossmaking Amey utilities and environmental services are being put up for sale. So will the survey be of any use?
We pay enough council tax, why would anyone even think about paying more to have garden waste taken away? Chuck it in a black bag & in the bin! Or you could continue to let yourself be shafted even more by the council. I would not even give them the satisfaction of doing the survey, cos they never listen to the public… just look at the B&Q roundabout!! Don’t pay to park either, cos that’s just paying the council even more money, when you pay car tax & council tax already!! Until you all stop paying for these services which should be included in the council tax, they will just continue to rip you off!
