Wightlink-Wight Mountain Cycle Race Team’s Andy Ward and Dave Cooper raced at Hillingdon circuit on Saturday (28th October).

With a packed field of 45 plus riders ,the race started at a steady pace but soon heated up with a few early breakaway attempts.

Cooper chased down 2 breakaways and got away with a few others. Once he had jumped across to the 2 riders they both looked at him to do the work. He decided it wasn’t going to stick and rejoined the pack.

As they entered the final lap both riders were well positioned for the sprint despite being very bunched up. Wardy pulled a very canny move on the inside which led to a 3rd place finish.

Unfortunately, Cooper got blocked on the final straight but managed to sprint through for an 8th place.
