Autumn winds are blowing, Christmas merchandise is in the shops and the last few days’ fireworks and bonfires are telling us we’re into November. Just the time to snuggle into a cosy theatre seat and watch a good show – and the Island theatre scene has lots coming up….
In their pretty theatre converted from a Methodist chapel in Pyle Street, the Apollo Players are currently staging God of Carnage, a comedy of manners – with no manners! 2 couples get together to discuss an issue between their respective young sons, but what starts out as a polite, amicable exchange of views becomes progressively more challenging, more childish – and more and more hilarious!
Please note that in keeping with the subject matter of this play, occasionally the themes and language are of an adult and challenging nature: if you have any questions or concerns regarding this call the box office or email [email protected] for further information. Tickets for God of Carnage, at 19:30 each evening until 13th November (not Sunday or Monday) are available online at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/apollotheatre/god-of-carnage/e-pjymmp or from the box office on 01983 210010.

Over in Bembridge, the Little Theatre Club are finalising preparations for the award-winning Broadway show Nunsense at Bembridge Village Hall on 11th, 12th and 13th November at 19:30, with a Sunday matinee on 14th November at 14:30. This hilarious musical comedy introduces us to the The Little Sisters of Hoboken who are holding a concert to raise money to bury four nuns who have been poisoned…..they’ll explain.
Every sister is convinced they should be the star of the show (apart from Sister Amnesia who can’t even remember who she is…) – and as their Reverend Mother struggles to keep control, not only are we treated to a very funny and hugely enjoyable romp, but there are some truly memorable songs and dance routines to enjoy too. Tickets for Nunsense are available from the box office on 07841950261 or by calling in at Splash, Union Street, Ryde or the Co-op Welcome Store in Lane End, Bembridge.

Join us at the Blue Parrot Club for music, merriment and murder – can you help Mayday to find the perpetrator of the dastardly deed? If so, come along, in period dress if you wish, to Totland Church Hall on 11th or 12th November at 19:30 – get your tickets from The Cabin, Freshwater or the FYT Charity Shop in Totland.
