Luxury care developer and operator The Care Home Group has acquired the former Auckland Hotel in Shanklin with plans to transform it into a 5* luxury hotel, with the unique benefit of access to 24/7 professional care packages to support hotel guests during their stay.
The bespoke care packages can be adapted according to individual needs – from daily visits to full-time care. The services will be provided by via The Care Home Group’s care providing arm, Caring Communities.
A regional office will be set up shortly in Shanklin by the Care Home Group to recruit an expert team to deliver premium quality care services to the hotel as well as ‘care at home’ (domiciliary care) services to local communities across the Isle of Wight.
The Care Home Group has already established a widespread reputation in the South West of England for acquiring run-down character properties and transforming them into stunning, boutique luxury living accommodation for those in later life, offering the very best in comfort, dining and customer services, as well as outstanding levels of care.
Situated on Queens Road and close to Shanklin Chine, the 1970’s Auckland hotel had been a successful family-run business for many years. Now closed, The Care Home Group has submitted planning proposals to transform its dated exterior whilst maintaining the unique character of the building.
New terracing and glazing and disabled access will be installed and the property’s 32 bedrooms will be reduced to 26 to create larger single and double rooms which will be interior designed with high quality soft furnishings, furniture and en-suite facilities. A large 60-seat restaurant is planned to offer one of the best dining experiences in Shanklin for both hotel guests as well as the local community.
The Auckland is the Care Home Group’s first hotel acquisition and aims to deliver a care need that is currently poorly catered for in the UK.

The Care Home Group plans to have the hotel fully operational in time for the 2018 season. Caring Communities will be offering Care at Home services across the Isle of Wight from Autumn 2017.
