2 men have been arrested, questioned and released from Police custody following the discovery of a large cannabis farm on Ashey Road near Ryde.
At around 15:30 on Monday 3rd April officers swooped on the area surrounding the former Ponda Rosa pub, but swiftly left the area just 20 minutes later. The following morning more Police arrived at the scene and spent most of the day parked in the car park at the entrance to ‘Ashey Villas’.
Hampshire Constabulary have now confirmed that a 43-year-old man and a 48-year-old man, both from Ryde, were arrested on suspicion of the production of cannabis. However, the pair have since been released from custody. They remain under investigation.
It is thought the haul of cannabis plants seized by Police ran into the hundreds.
Editor’s footnote: Local resident Mr Robbie Hounsham would like to make it clear that he is not related to the investigation in any way. He allowed Police to park on his property whilst they carried out their investigations.
