The Isle of Wight Green Party have announced their youngest ever candidate for the Isle of Wight Council elections in May.
Alex Pointing, a student at Cowes Enterprise College, will be just 18 years and 55 days old on polling next (4th May). This makes him the Green Party’s youngest ever candidate and believed to be the youngest candidate in the 2017 local elections here on the Isle of Wight.
Alex, who is studying Geography, History and Econonics, said:
“Politics has always been a key passion of mine and I hope to energize these local elections by adding a youth voice into the debate, and by doing so engage and encourage other young people to get involved in politics.”
In addition, there is to be a Youth Decides hustings event next week at Ventnor Exchange – just in time for the deadline to register to vote. Representatives from each party will be announced in due course.
