A 15-year-old boy has been flown to a mainland hospital after being seriously injured on a residential street in Cowes last night (Tuesday).
The teenager is understood to have received head injuries as a result of being assaulted ‘with a golf club’ during a public order incident on Arctic Road at just gone 21:00.
A helicopter landed at St Mary’s Hospital at around 02:00 this morning and flew the teen to Southampton General Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
A second boy, who is also aged 15, received minor injuries in the incident.
Police sealed off the street last night and it remains on lockdown this morning.
A 15-year-old boy from Cowes has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remains in custody at this time.
Detective Inspector Ron Lock has said:
“At this time we believe that all those involved in the incident last night are known to each other.
“Our enquiries to establish the circumstances remain ongoing and officers will be in the area speaking to local people.
“If you have any information at all about this incident, please get in touch with us.”

The place has an underclass of feral, lethally stupid antisocial scum. They are taking over.
Actually this street is usually a very pleasant and friendly street. These youths involved are not from Arctic Road…..Youth crime is evolving at a frightening pace islandwide. Not surprisingly, this increase has been witnessed since the decline in the provision of youth services on the Island.
There are plenty of unnamed ‘gangs’ in school that fight people all the time inside and outside. I’m a student so I see these people all the time
I know that kid and his friends. This will only start up more needless violence
