A teenage girl is to appear before the Isle of Wight Youth Court charged with the attempted robbery of a convenience store in Ryde.
The 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is alleged to have entered Duffetts Stores on John Street with a kitchen knife. She demanded staff give her money whilst holding the knife in her hand. The staff did not give her any money and she left empty-handed.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of 3rd June 2019, as previously reported by Island Echo.
The youngster has now been charged with 2 offences; attempted robbery and possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.
UPDATE – The teen admitted the 2 offences at the Isle of Wight Youth Court on Wednesday.
Magistrates handed down a 9-month referral order and ordered the girl to pay a fine of £85 with a £90 surcharge.
