Cowes Sports were held to a draw by 2nd-from-bottom United Services Portsmouth at HMS Temeraire this afternoon (Saturday) despite taking the lead 3 times in the game. The Yachtsmen began brightly, with Fin Phillips converting a George Carter-Knight cross from the penalty spot in the 11th minute (0-1). 6 minutes later, US Portsmouth levelled the scores when Fli Vucaj smashed the ball home from 8 yards (1-1) George Carter-Knight then restored the Yachtsmen’s goal advantage in the 18th minute by blasting a Scott McFarlane cross into the goal (1-2). In the 29th minute, US Portsmouth equalised for a 2nd time through Simon Woods, who slid the ball home from a tight angle (2-2). The final goal of the 1st half came a minute before the half time break courtesy of a Ryan Oatley header, with Colson supplying the cross (2-3). Half time: United Services Portsmouth 2-3 Cowes Sports US Pompey equalised for the 3rd time in the game in the 73rd minute through a deflected shot into the top corner of the goal from Ade Adeniran (3-3). 2 minutes later, the home side came close to bagging all 3 points when Isaac Kamin saw his shot bounce off the upright. 4 minutes from the final whistle, the USP keeper Stan Pharoah saved shots from substitutes Neale and Bridi to ensure the Yachtsmen returned across the Solent with only a single point.
