24-year-old Leah Franklin has been banned from driving for 28 months after crashing her car whilst heavily intoxicated – more than 4 times the drink-drive limit.
Franklin, a support worker from St Martins Road in Wroxall, was charged with failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis following a road traffic collision on Bluebell Meadows, Newport during the early hours of Saturday 3rd August.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Police received a report of a road traffic collision on Godric Road at around 01:05. Officers responded to the scene and Franklin was arrested on suspicion of a driving offence.
Leah initially blew 100 at the roadside but then provided a second reading of 152, 4.3x the legal drink-drive limit of 35. However, when she was taken to Newport Police Station she was unable – but not unwilling – to provide an evidential sample. This led to the charge of failing to provide.
