Have you ever contemplated joining forces with ‘the dark side’ of football? Every week there are some football teams on the IOW who play their games without the benefit of a qualified referee. To help improve this situation for next season, the Isle of Wight Referees Association, in collaboration with Hampshire FA, are running a ‘Get into Refereeing’ football referees course for anyone interested in becoming a football referee.
Reasons to referee:
Do you have what it takes to make the hard calls? If you are up to the task, refereeing is a great way to:
- Get into football
- Remain involved in the game after injury or retirement
- Play a vital role in ensuring players enjoy the game
- Increase participation in the sport
- Make new and lasting friends
And yes, you get paid too… Dates: Friday 5th July: 18.00 to 21:00 Saturday 6th July: 09:00 to 16:00 Venue: Ryde Academy Pell Ln, Ryde PO33 3LL Cost: £145 per person (If cost is going to be an issue some bursaries may be available) Age: 14+ Anyone interested in participating in this course should email Calum Mcfarlane at [email protected]

Paid what?
I’d want about £500 per match considering the amount of abuse and sometimes violence local league refs get.
If they are short of refs this is the issue they need to fix.
No thanks – stupid game!
