Northwood House in Cowes will be home to a unique first for the Isle of Wight from Thursday 3rd August until Sunday 6th August, as cross-Solent ferry company Red Funnel presents “Dodecalis” – the Architects of Air Luminarium.
Making its Isle of Wight debut towards the end of Cowes Week, the “Dodecalis” Luminarium is a spectacular and unique sensory experience with wellbeing and calmness at its core which will be built on the lawn of Northwood House.
The incredible large-scale inflatable structure utilises natural light to produce captivating, vibrant colours throughout the interconnected chambers and spacious tunnels. The combined experience will provide a spectacular and unique walk-through immersion for visitors.
More than 3 million visitors, in over 43 countries, across 5 continents have been welcomed into one of the Architects of Air’s monumental Luminaria, and this will be the first time the Isle of Wight community and visitors will experience one of their amazing events.
This unmissable event is sponsored by Red Funnel, and is part of the ferry company’s long-term environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) strategy, Changing Tides, which commits to providing ongoing support for the Island community and visitors, as well as showcasing the Isle of Wight as a whole and operating responsibly.

Entry will be segmented into 30-minute slots, allowing visitors to wander, sit or even lie down and soak up the sensory wonderland surrounding them. The Luminarium experience will be available from 11:00 until 17:00 daily with tickets costing just £6.99 each and under 2’s going free, making it a great deal for families looking for some school holiday entertainment.
Red Funnel will be offering a package deal, for foot passengers travelling from Southampton wishing to visit the Luminaria. This will include day return tickets for their Hi-Speed Red Jet service to West Cowes, plus standard entry to the Luminaria, for just £18.00 per adult or £12.00 per child.
The Luminarium is an inclusive attraction which is wheelchair friendly, and there will also be exclusive disability sessions on with reduced capacity for the benefit of those with hidden or visible disabilities, and their carers. These sessions will run from 10.30am to 11am daily with tickets going on sale soon.
