Police are appealing for witnesses to an attempted robbery in Ryde High Street on Wednesday (2nd November).
A 28-year-old woman – who was with her 19-month old daughter – was leaning into the boot of her car outside Iceland at just after 14:00, when a man approached her.
While talking to her, he grabbed the strap of her handbag but failed to steal it. He is said to have tried a second time, but also failed.
PC Leah Fearn from Newport CID said:
“This incident happened on a busy high street in the middle of the afternoon, when there would have been lots of people around.
